About

Authors & Audio is a rock band from Dayton, Ohio that has recorded three studio albums, two cut to analog tape. Formed in 2006, Authors & Audio has evolved into a five-piece, song-based, guitar-featured rock band. Their music incorporates the raw energy and melody of Foo Fighters, the rhythm and soul of The Black Keys, and the spirit of a hard-working American band exemplified by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. With over 70 shows ranging 30 different venues spanning across Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee, Authors & Audio has worked tirelessly to perfect their live sound. Band members include Jack Cox, James Hill, Charlie Shaw, Tom Cox, and Joshua Marshall.

In the past year, the Authors travelled to Chicago, IL, for multiple visits to both the Hard Rock Cafe and the Goose Island Brewpub, and to Nashville, TN, to record their third LP. The double album, which will be released on vinyl in the summer of 2014, was cut to two-inch analog tape and is entitled, "The Man with the Octopus Arms."

Venues that have presented the Authors include Nashville’s renowned Exit/In, Dayton’s premier listening room, Canal Street Tavern, The Emerson Theatre in Indianapolis, Chicago’s Hard Rock Café and Goose Island Brewpub, cherished dive, The Boro, in Murfreesboro, TN, and various locations throughout the Dayton area.

The Author’s third upcoming record, “The Man with the Octopus Arms,” is their most daringly eclectic endeavor yet, expanding on the sonic concepts familiarized in their first two albums, “Authors & Audio” and “Stale Magic.” The forthcoming double album features 16 songs that strive to blur the lines between Blues-Rock, Americana, Riff-Rock, Alternative, and Psychedelic Rock, creating a unique combination of elements that stem from a humble five-piece, guitar-driven, song-based rock band.

In an interview regarding their second album, “Stale Magic,” Authors songwriter, singer, and guitarist, Jack Cox, speaks to the attitude embodied by the band: “One of the things I really like about this album is it’s kind of homemade, not in terms of quality, but it was made by friends working and writing together.” This humble outlook represents the timeless rock n’ roll attitude that has kept the collaborative experience of being in a band around in modern times.

Authors & Audio's three albums were recorded, mixed and produced by Patrick Himes at Reel Love Recording Company in Nashville Tennessee. The first two albums were mastered at Yes Master Studios, also in Nashville, Tennessee. The first album, "Authors & Audio" was released in November 2010 and the second, "Stale Magic" was released March 2012.
